ABOUT STEPHANIE

Since 2010, Stephanie Berault has served as the Louisiana Executive Director of the HeartGift Foundation, an organization that provides life-saving congenital heart defect surgery to children in need. By examining the problems felt by the people in her community, Stephanie’s guiding conscience told her that more must be done.

In 2023, Stephanie ran for and was elected to the Louisiana State House of Representatives in 2023, winning a contested election with 79.4% of the vote. In the House, she serves as an elected member of the Appropriations Committee; Health and Welfare; and Retirement Committees.  She also serves on several select committees including the House Select Committee on Women and Children, the Perinatal Task Force, and the Medical Quality Oversight Committee.

A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with the highest honors in business administration, Stephanie worked in healthcare finance for 10 years. Through this experience, she gained the understanding that the numbers tell a story.

For too long, Louisiana’s numbers were highlighted by a large number of residents leaving, insurance rates rising, crime in the large cities soaring, and the economy hanging on at best. So, Stephanie has fought alongside her colleagues to reverse these trends. In 2024, for the first time since 2016, more residents moved TO Louisiana than left. There is much more to be done to make a lasting difference for our children, our economy, and especially our future.

Of course, nothing happens in a vacuum; and Stephanie understands that creating and protecting that future cannot be done alone: it takes an entire community. That is why she has spent much of her life collaborating with and leading various organizations that not only enrich her community but also bring people closer together.

She has lived by this philosophy through her work as a Board member for the New Orleans Catholic Foundation, Slidell Friends of the Arts, the Northshore Community Foundation, and an active parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Church. She also serves on the Board of the Harbor Center — the St. Tammany epicenter venue for enhancing business, celebrating life, and strengthening community.

Through these activities and more, Stephanie has contributed to the heartbeat of Louisiana — that sense of community that provides courage, strength, and fortitude in the face of life’s problems. And by serving as a State Representative, Stephanie intends to enhance this unique essence of her community and defend it in Baton Rouge.
